What is Polarity Therapy?
Polarity derives from an
ancient Indian and Chinese system of healing and it shares
similarities with reflexology and shiatsu. It is holistic
and works on the underlying causes behind symptoms. It
works on many levels and is beneficial during pregnancy and
for the relief of emotional and stress related problems.
Polarity therapy consists
of 4 main areas:
- Hands-On Bodywork using 3 different types of touch
- Diet and Nutrition based on the Five Elements
- Counseling
- Polarity Energy and Stretching/Postural Exercises
Sound and breath work for
healing and balancing may also be used.
Polarity balances and harmonises the organs and nervous
system, restoring and maintaining health on a physical
mental and emotional level. It works on lots of levels in
the body including musculoskeletel, cardiovascular,
respiratory and gynaecological.
Polarity understands that imbalances and ill health come as
result of congestion, stagnation and the depletion of vital
energy in the body. It seeks to bring back equilibrium by
working with the five energy centres of ether, air, fire,
water and earth. The body is seen as a kind of living
magnet generating and channelling currents of energy.
Polarity can be very relaxing, restorative and energising.
It uses three different forms of touch as well as gentle
cranial techniques.
The treatment can also include health building, dietary
advice and cleansing such as liver flushes, gall bladder
flushes and enemas. Information is provided on; suitable
exercises, food groups and their relationship to the five
elements. Any guidance on improving health and diet is
given on an individual basis for each client.
What
is LaStone Therapy?
La
Stone is much more than a massage; it is the contemporary
approach to thermotherapy. Alternating hot and cold
temperature to the body has a therapeutic effect that goes
beyond measure. The physiological benefits of this have
long been scientifically and medically proven.
Treatment involves laying on a spinal layout of stones.
More stones are then placed along the front of the body on
key chakra or energy points. When all the stones are in
place the practitioner will massage the body with hot
basalt and chilled marble stones. Warm oil is also used.
This unique technique ‘exercises’ the circulatory systems
to assist the body in self-healing.
Deeply relaxing and nurturing, the application of heat in
La Stone stimulates, improves and increases blood flow,
circulation and metabolism. In contrast, the application of
cold gives relief from muscle tension, reduces inflammation
and slows down any muscle damage. The alternate application
of hot and cold helps to balance the body’s acidity and
alkalinity. The result produces deep relaxation and
energising responses whilst balancing the mind, body and
spirit.
What is Hot Stone Massage?
Hot
Stone Massage is a soothing, yet uplifting treatment using
hot stones and warm oil to massage the body; it is deeply
relaxing and reviving for mind, body and spirit.
What
is Lymphatic Drainage?
Lymphatic Drainage involves a
series of gentle, precise and rhythmic movements and
massage techniques designed specifically to keep the
lymphatic system (the body’s system of cleansing and
defence) healthy.
Lymph fluid transports excess protein, fluid and waste
products from the body’s tissues into the blood to be
circulated and eliminated. Regular lymphatic treatments can
help relieve symptoms of cellulite, fluid retention,
migraines, neuralgia, fibromyalgia, acne, aches and pains
and fatigue. Lymphatic drainage can also support a detox
program.
What is Therapeutic Massage?
Massage has been around for
over one thousand years. Egyptian tomb paintings show
people being massaged and, in Eastern cultures, they have
practised massage continually since ancient times. Julius
Caesar was said to have been given a daily massage for
neuralgia.
“The Physician must be experienced in many things, “ wrote
Hippocrates, the father of Western Medicine, in the fifth
century B.C., “, but assuredly in rubbing…for rubbing can
bind a joint that is too loose, and loosen a joint that is
too rigid.”
Massage is so much more than a feel good indulgence. The
power of touch can relieve aches and pains, improve the
condition of your skin, stimulate the circulation of the
blood and help the functioning of the lymphatic system that
cleans the body. In addition it improves muscle tone,
breaks down fat and helps to reduce cellulite. It can also
invigorate and increase your feeling of well being, self
esteem and help you to become more aware of your body and
its needs. Massage stimulates the body in many ways and
allows the healing process to begin. Prevention is better
than cure and massage should be used in this way rather
than waiting until it is really necessary.
What
is Bowen Technique?
Is an
original system of gentle but powerful soft tissue
mobilization that
affects the body both structurally and energetically to
restore its
self-healing mechanisms.
The Bowen Technique, a healing, often miraculous,
life-changing hands-on
therapy, is revolutionizing the healthcare world.
A simple and powerful technique that helps relieve all
kinds of pain, it is
non-invasive and so gentle that it can be used on anyone,
from newborn
infants to the elderly, and provides lasting relief from a
wide variety of
acute or chronic conditions.
The Bowen Technique is not massage, acupressure or
chiropractic. There is no
manipulation, adjustment or force used. The practitioner
uses thumbs and
fingers to gently move muscles and tissues. In between each
set of moves,
the practitioner leaves the room. These pauses and the
gentleness of the
treatment are what make Bowen unique.
It offers rapid, long-lasting relief from pain and
discomfort. Most
conditions respond within 2-3 treatments. While it can help
speed up
recovery time, the Bowen Technique is not meant to replace
medical
treatment. However, due to its high rate of success, more
and more members
of the medical profession continue to be amazed at its
effectiveness and
have begun to add the Bowen Technique to their practices.
